November 25th is a day set aside to remind us that violence against women is still very much a reality. The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women reminds us that violence against women is a human rights issue that women all over the world still face. From discrimination based on gender to inequality there is still a lot to be done to eliminate this issue. Prevention is key. This month, join the UN Secretary General’s UNiTE to End Violence against women campaign from November 25th to December 10 and “Orange the World”. Decorate your workplace orange in support or give out oranges to your employees. But don’t let your support stop after the sixteen days are over, speak up whenever you see discrimination or inequality. Canada too has a special day of awareness, December 6th is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada.
